Waken

Let the Word move you.

Effective date: September 7, 2026 Last updated: September 7, 2026

The short version

Waken collects the least it can: an email address and a name so you can sign in, and a record of the devotionals you save. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing. You can delete your account, and everything attached to it, from inside the app.

1. Who we are

Waken is a daily Catholic devotional app, published by MW Creative Labs LLC, a Texas limited liability company.

The best way to reach us about this policy or your data is by email, at the address below. We will add a postal address here once the company's registered office is established.

Questions about this policy or your data: privacy@getwaken.app

2. What we collect

We collect only what the app needs to work.

What Why When
Email address It is your login identity, and it is how we could reach you about your account. You provide it at sign-up.
First and last name Shown on your Account screen; your first name may be used to greet you. You provide them at sign-up, and can change them at any time.
Saved devotionals ("favourites") So the devotionals you save are there when you come back. When you tap the heart on a devotional.
Subscription status Determines whether you can read the archive. Set by us; you cannot change it from the app.
Account creation date Shown to you as "member since". Automatically at sign-up.

We do not collect: location, contacts, photos, device identifiers for advertising, or any behavioural profile. We do not use analytics software. We run no advertising and no third-party trackers.

We do not ask for payment details. If and when Waken offers a paid subscription, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. Your card details go to them, never to us — we only learn whether your subscription is active.

3. A note about religious data

Waken is a Catholic devotional app, so the fact that you use it, and which scripture you save, may say something about your religious beliefs. Many privacy laws treat that as a special category of personal data deserving extra care. We take that seriously, and it is the main reason we collect as little as possible and keep no behavioural profile.

4. How your information is used

Only to run the app: to sign you in, to show you your own name and saved devotionals, and to determine what content your account can read. We do not use your information to build a profile of you, and we do not use it for marketing unless you separately ask us to.

5. Who else can see it

That is the complete list. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

6. How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. Delete your account and it goes — your profile and your saved devotionals are removed at the same time, automatically and permanently. There is no soft-delete and no archived copy waiting to be restored. Backups may retain data briefly until they age out on their normal schedule.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live you may also have the right to request a copy of your data, to object to processing, or to complain to a data-protection authority. Write to us and we will help.

8. Children

Waken is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

9. Security

Access to your data is restricted at the database level: the rules are enforced on our server, not in the app, so one account cannot read another's information even if the app itself is tampered with. Your subscription status is not writable by any client. No system is perfectly secure, but the paywall and the per-account boundaries are enforced where it counts.

10. Scripture

Scripture quotations are from the Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition. Some devotionals quote the Douay-Rheims, which is in the public domain.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change it we will update the date at the top, and we will tell you in the app if the change is significant.
